Dancing with the Stars (and Baseball)

It is a Monday night, which means that it is time for Dancing with the Stars.  Now, I have never been a DWTS fan, but, I thought I would give it a chance this season because of David Ross.  Frankly, Ross is a better dancer than I expected.  Now, he is not the best dancer on the show.  Last week, the judges seemed quite upset about the results.
Now, to some extent, I understand their frustrations.  The judges want to best dancers to move on and win.  And, in an ideal world, that is what would happen.  But, in an ideal world, people would just watch ballroom dance competition and not need "stars" to watch.  In an ideal world, the show would be about the beauty of dance, and not about the money.  But, the reality is that DWTS is about money.  It makes ABC a good deal of money, or the show would not have been on for so many seasons.  People watch to see their favorite stars.  They watch to see the crazy dance themes (that, frankly, only vaguely resemble ballroom dancing to begin with).  And, while I enjoy dance, the only reason I have been watching is because I really like David Ross.  He was a good ball player, a leader in the clubhouse, and just seems like an all around good guy.  If he gets kicked off the show, I will stop watching.  I have nothing against the other contestants, but, the show has not engaged me besides watching to see what David will do next.  If they want to preserve the integrity of the show, you have to get rid of the stars.  Then you just have Dancing (and probably a much, much smaller audience).
Although, I might actually watch that.
